In the ongoing investigation into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, a demand for a CBI probe has been made by Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of the victim. He alleges that a leaked phone conversation raises serious questions about the involvement of Sonam Raghuvanshi’s family in the crime. Police reports state that Sonam planned and executed Raja’s murder with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three others. The body was found in a ravine in Sohra on June 2nd. Vipin alleges that the Meghalaya police did not conduct a thorough investigation, especially concerning the bail granted to several co-accused. He also pointed to an unconfirmed call recording, claiming Sonam spoke to her family from jail, a claim denied by the family. Vipin accuses Sonam’s family of influencing the legal proceedings related to her bail. Silom James, an Indore property dealer accused of tampering with evidence and sheltering Sonam and Raj, was recently granted bail by the East Khasi Hills Court. Two other suspects, Lokendra Singh Tomar and Balbir Ahirwa, have also been released on bail. Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, and the three alleged killers are still in judicial custody.
