In response to a meat ban imposed by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation, AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel hosted a ‘biryani party’ at his home. The ban, affecting slaughterhouses and meat shops, was in effect on August 15 and 20, coinciding with Independence Day and religious festivals. Jaleel expressed his disapproval of the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s lack of action regarding the matter. He argued against government interference in personal food choices, emphasizing the importance of individual liberty. The event featured chicken biryani alongside a vegetarian option, signifying an inclusive approach. AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi also criticized similar directives issued by other municipalities, asserting that such bans infringe upon fundamental rights such as livelihood, culture, and religious practices.
