Punjab Police have successfully neutralized a threat by arresting four shooters belonging to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a fierce encounter in Dera Bassi, Mohali. The incident occurred on the Dera Bassi–Ambala highway, near Steel Strips Towers, where the operatives, working under Goldy Dhillon, opened fire on law enforcement during a cordon-and-search operation. The ensuing shootout resulted in two gang members being shot and injured, one of whom is reportedly in serious condition. Police have confirmed that their own team members, though hit by bullets, were unharmed thanks to protective gear. The Anti-Gangster Task Force and SAS Nagar Police were instrumental in this successful operation. A significant haul of weapons, including seven .32 calibre pistols and a substantial quantity of ammunition, was recovered. Intelligence reports indicate the gang was orchestrating targeted attacks in the Tricity and Patiala areas under the direction of their foreign-based handler. Further investigations are focusing on the potential cross-border smuggling of these firearms, with preliminary findings suggesting they may have been dispatched from Pakistan via drones to the Bishnoi gang. This operation is a major step in curbing organized crime in the region.
