Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister, stated that drug abuse undermines the well-being of families, society, and the nation. The Madhya Pradesh government is committed to creating a drug-free state and is taking all necessary steps to achieve this goal. This includes banning alcohol sales in 19 religious areas and a successful police campaign, ‘Distance from Drugs is Essential,’ conducted from July 15th to July 31st. The police are also focused on apprehending the main perpetrators of the drug trade.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ five years ago. Efforts are underway in Madhya Pradesh to raise social awareness and strengthen legal frameworks to combat drug abuse. The government is determined to eliminate the problem of addiction from society. The Bhopal Police have taken firm action against individuals involved in the illegal drug business.
In addition to this, Dr. Yadav presented the Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards. He also transferred over 339 crore rupees in pension payments to over 56 lakh beneficiaries through a single click. Earlier, Dr. Yadav paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait and reviewed an exhibition focused on drug de-addiction.
The Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Awards for 2023-24 were awarded to various individuals. The recipients included Rajiv Tiwari, President of Shuddhi Nashamukti Kendra; Sujit Kumar Dwivedi, representing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Samiti; Rajesh Dandotia, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Indore; Prashant Choubey, Additional Superintendent of Police, Vidisha; and Santosh Patel, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hawkforce Balaghat.
Dr. Yadav emphasized the global admiration for refined Indian philosophy, rooted in knowledge and science. He mentioned the astonishment of scientists worldwide when Indian scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose revealed that plants have life. He underscored the importance of individual awareness, cooperative living, and social responsibilities. He highlighted India’s reputation for harmony and culture, which has earned it a unique position globally.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the significant contributions of the Gayatri Parivar and Brahma Kumaris in raising public awareness. He led those present in the hall in taking an oath as part of the drug-free campaign and announced the state government’s plans to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Lord Balram and Lord Krishna.
Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha highlighted the 5th anniversary of the ‘Drug-Free India Campaign’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that a nationwide public awareness campaign against drugs is ongoing throughout August. He stated that the campaign in Madhya Pradesh, led by Dr. Yadav and supported by the police and public, has been successful. He stressed that drugs are a societal curse and expressed the hope that with public support, the vision of a developed and prosperous India would be realized.
