The Madhya Pradesh government is implementing a multi-phased campaign titled ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhta: Swatantrata Ka Utsav, Swachhta Ke Sang’, which translates to ‘Tricolor in Every Home, Cleanliness in Every Home: Celebration of Independence, with Cleanliness’. The campaign is designed to be conducted across three stages. Its primary objective is to encourage every citizen to display the national flag at their residences. This initiative aims to instill a sense of patriotism and promote respect for the national flag. Furthermore, it seeks to raise awareness of cleanliness and water conservation, thereby supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission.
The government is committed to establishing this campaign as a mass movement to enable the participation of every citizen. The campaign will be organized from August 2 to August 15, 2025, across three phases.
The first phase, spanning August 2 to August 8, will focus on fostering a patriotic atmosphere and organizing public events and discussions centered around the national flag. Schools, colleges, and public spaces will be adorned with art and rangoli inspired by the tricolor. Activities such as quizzes on the flag’s history, workshops for creating tricolor rakhis, and letter-writing competitions will be conducted. Displays of woven art in the colors of the tricolor will also be a part of this phase.
The second phase, from August 9 to August 12, will feature large-scale events in the form of a Tiranga Mahotsav. Community-level awareness programs, Tiranga Yatras, and cultural activities will be organized. The focus will be on bringing people together, promoting widespread awareness, ensuring flag availability, and enhancing the visibility of the tricolor in public spaces. This will include a Tiranga Mela showcasing local products, Tiranga concerts, bike/cycle rallies, Tiranga Yatras with significant public participation, sales and proper arrangements for the Tiranga flag, human chain formations, and Tiranga anthems.
The third phase, from August 13 to August 15, will involve the display of the tricolor on homes, offices, and vehicles, along with selfie uploads, ubiquitous visibility of the tricolor, and continuous information exchange with the Ministry of Culture. Important programs will be organized with the tricolor. The tricolor will be hoisted on all government buildings, educational institutions, offices, and public places.
The Madhya Pradesh government has made comprehensive preparations for the success of this campaign. The Culture Department has issued detailed guidelines to all district collectors. This campaign is a joint effort involving the Central Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and the Ministry of Culture. It is based on the concept of a collective celebration and civic unity, integrating the essence of independence with a commitment to cleanliness and water sustainability. This approach will strengthen the Prime Minister’s resolve by ensuring safe water supplies, effective water and sanitation practices, and improved sanitation in rural areas. Activities related to cleanliness and water conservation will be promoted under this campaign.
Various activities will be held in villages and Gram Panchayats under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM-G) and the Jal-Jeevan Mission (JJM). These will include Swachh Sujal Gaon pledges, community cleaning drives, cleaning of assets, awareness activities, water conservation initiatives, and flag hoisting ceremonies on August 15, 2025, at key WASH infrastructure sites, including Amrit Sarovar and public locations. This symbolizes the freedom, dignity, and well-being achieved through access to safe water and sanitation.
Active participation from districts, blocks, and Gram Panchayats will be ensured. Local institutions, Gram Jal Seva Samitis, Self-Help Groups, Panchayati Raj institutions, volunteers, and frontline workers will be encouraged to lead and participate. The involvement of Panchayats, Self-Help Groups, school students, Gram Jal Samitis, and frontline workers is planned. The General Administration Department has issued instructions to all Divisional Commissioners, Collectors, and related departments to ensure the campaign’s success.
The campaign’s scope extends beyond flag hoisting, encompassing patriotism, cleanliness, and environmental conservation. It will be celebrated as a festival in both rural and urban areas of Madhya Pradesh, with the active participation of school children, youth, and all community sections. Tricolor rakhi making and rangoli competitions will foster creativity and patriotism among children and youth.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Har Ghar Swachhta’ campaign will enhance the celebration of independence in Madhya Pradesh. It will not only promote respect for the national flag but also contribute to achieving significant social goals like cleanliness and water conservation. The people of Madhya Pradesh are urged to actively participate in the campaign and display the tricolor in their homes, thereby reinforcing the spirit of patriotism.
