The Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi will host the oath-taking ceremony of CP Radhakrishnan, the newly elected Vice President, on Friday, September 12. The event marks the commencement of Radhakrishnan’s term as the 15th Vice President of India. President Droupadi Murmu will officiate the swearing-in.
Among the attendees are Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
Radhakrishnan, representing the NDA, was victorious in Tuesday’s Vice Presidential election. He garnered 452 votes, defeating B. Sudershan Reddy, the INDIA Bloc candidate and a former Supreme Court judge, who received 300 votes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the election outcome, offered his congratulations to Radhakrishnan and expressed his belief in the new Vice President’s ability to strengthen India’s constitutional principles and improve parliamentary debates.
