Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, finds himself embroiled in legal battles, with multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him across two states. The core of the issue revolves around a social media post where Yadav shared a cartoon critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post, which described Modi’s Gaya rally as a ‘shop of rhetoric,’ triggered legal action in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
In Maharashtra, BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote from Gadchiroli filed a complaint against Yadav, leading to a case being registered for allegedly sharing an offensive post targeting Prime Minister Modi. The Gadchiroli police have charged Yadav under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. These actions could further complicate Yadav’s political and legal standing.
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP’s city president of Shahjahanpur, Shilpi Gupta, lodged a complaint against Yadav at the Sadar Bazar police station. Gupta expressed that Yadav’s remarks against the Prime Minister had caused widespread outrage, calling for strict legal action against him.
The contentious post shared by Yadav featured a cartoon portraying Prime Minister Modi’s Gaya rally as a ‘shop of rhetoric.’ The post, published on X before the rally, depicted the Prime Minister as a shopkeeper. The shop’s sign read, ‘Famous shop of rhetoric.’ Alongside the image, Yadav demanded accountability from Modi for his time in power and the NDA government’s time in power.
Yadav’s statement stated the establishment of a shop of lies and rhetoric in Gaya and further criticized the Prime Minister, stating that the people of Bihar would dismantle the ‘mountains of lies and rhetoric.’ The post also demanded accountability for the Modi government’s actions.
During the Gaya rally, Prime Minister Modi targeted the RJD, highlighting the hardships of the ‘lantern rule’ era.
