AIMIM has clinched the Kochadhaman assembly seat following a strong performance by its candidate, Md. Sarwar Alam. Alam secured a total of 81,860 votes, showcasing a dominant victory over his rival, Mujahid Alam from the RJD. The winning margin stood at a substantial 23,021 votes, with the RJD candidate receiving 58,839 votes. The Kochadhaman constituency, a general category seat within Bihar’s Kishanganj district, was created after the 2008 delimitation. It includes the entire Kochadhaman block and several gram panchayats from the Kishanganj block. Since its establishment, the Kochadhaman seat has a distinct electoral history, having been exclusively won by Muslim candidates. This trend was previously marked by JDU’s Mujahid Alam, who won a by-election in 2014 and retained the seat in 2015.
