Tragedy has struck Kakdwip with the untimely death of a first-year female law student, whose body was found in a lawyer’s chamber. The incident, reported on Thursday in the South 24 Parganas district, has prompted a swift police investigation and a manhunt for the lawyer. The deceased was a student from the Gandhinagar area.
According to her family, the student frequented the lawyer’s chamber for practical legal studies. On Wednesday, she departed her residence in the morning, only for her family to be informed in the evening that she had been found dead. The body was discovered hanging within the lawyer’s office in the Pratapaditya Gram Panchayat area, under Kakdwip Police Station’s purview.
Authorities retrieved a bag containing what appeared to be a love letter from the scene. The student’s relatives have filed a complaint against the lawyer, suggesting a relationship that may have contributed to the student’s alleged suicide. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and the body is undergoing post-mortem examination.
An official stated that the accused lawyer has disappeared following the incident, and extensive efforts are underway to locate and arrest him. Police are meticulously examining all aspects of the case to ascertain if foul play was involved. The community is grappling with the shock and sorrow of this grave incident.
