Chaos erupted in Ghodabandha, East Singhbhum, on Sunday night as a fierce fire broke out near an Ola Service Center, reducing multiple vehicles to ashes. The blaze reportedly started from a single car parked outside the service facility and quickly escalated into a major conflagration. Neighboring vehicles were caught in the inferno, creating a scene of panic. Alarmed by the rapidly spreading flames, residents evacuated their homes and initiated immediate firefighting efforts before official responders arrived. Firefighting units and law enforcement reached the site and engaged in an arduous battle against the fire, which persisted into the late hours. The situation was eventually brought under control after sustained efforts. Following the destructive event, local citizens voiced strong discontent. Allegations have surfaced that the Ola Service Center owner, Tapas Das, has illegally occupied forest land and roadside areas for parking operations, with the company’s alleged complicity. Despite prior complaints lodged with the forest department and administrative bodies, no action was reportedly taken, fueling public anger. The presence of a nearby electrical transformer was also a grave concern for residents, who feared a potential explosion and significant casualties if the fire had reached it.
