A criminal gang created chaos in Latehar late Saturday night, setting a truck on fire and firing shots near the railway siding in the Bariyatu area. The incident, which took place near the CCL-affected Phulbasiya (Amarwadih) railway siding, saw the criminals arrive on a motorcycle and open fire, before setting a truck ablaze. Police recovered a note from the scene in which the Rahul Dubey gang claimed responsibility for the attack, also issuing warnings to coal traders. The note warned coal businessmen in Latehar, Chatra, and Balumath to not conduct business without contacting the gang. The SDPO initially denied the reports of shots being fired, but confirmed an investigation and ongoing efforts to identify and arrest the perpetrators, and an FIR has been registered. The incident caused significant damage, and the truck was completely destroyed by the fire.
