A severe road accident took place in Chhatarmandu on Monday, involving a passenger bus and a coal-laden truck. The collision resulted in three fatalities, with around 24 more individuals injured. Six of the injured passengers are in serious condition.
The deceased were identified as Manish Kumar, the truck driver from Bengavari Keredari Hazaribagh, and Vilaso Devi, a woman from Jenamod Bokaro. Following initial medical attention, more than six injured passengers were transferred from Sadar Hospital to RIMS for advanced medical treatment. Ramgarh police responded swiftly to the incident, beginning rescue and recovery efforts.
The incident occurred when the driver of the Shri Gokul bus (JH 10 BM 8219), traveling from Dhanbad towards Ramgarh, attempted to overtake another vehicle, leading to a collision with a coal-carrying truck (JH 13 C 0232) coming from the opposite direction. The truck driver and one female passenger died instantly.
The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital with assistance from locals. Doctors at the hospital referred six critically injured individuals to RIMS. Many other passengers received treatment at Sadar Hospital. The impact of the collision was intense, causing significant damage to the front of both vehicles.
An advocate was also aboard the bus that was involved in the accident. Arvind Kumar Pathak, a member of the Ramgarh Bar Association and resident of Gola, was a passenger on the bus heading to Ramgarh. Sadly, he later died at RIMS during treatment.
Injured individuals treated at Sadar Hospital include Bijendra Rajwar and Kanhu Kumar (Chas Bokaro), Suraj Rajwar (Balidih, Bokaro), Madhu Rani (Bokaro Steel City), Sarita Kumari and W. Mahato (Katra, Dhanbad), Surkhi Pandey and Mantu Kumar (Peterwar), Saguffa alias Pammi (Indrajara Charhi), Shibu Sav and Pano Devi (Jenamod Bokaro), Basanti Devi (Rangamati, Chas), plus eight others, including five children from the same family, all from Bokaro.
