In a significant joint operation targeting illegal drug trafficking, authorities at Tatanagar Railway Station have apprehended a smuggler carrying a large cache of ganja. The collaborative effort between the RPF’s flying squad (Chakradharpur division) and the GRP led to the seizure of 17 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately 8.5 lakh rupees. The arrested suspect, Uday Kumar alias Mantu from Hariharganj in Palamu, was intercepted by the team. Preliminary findings suggest the ganja was brought from Jarapada station in Odisha’s Sambalpur division. The smuggler’s intended route involved onward travel by bus through Daltonganj to deliver the illegal substance. Acting on prior intelligence, the joint team closely monitored the suspect’s movements. He was apprehended near the ticket counter shortly after disembarking from a train. The substantial quantity of ganja was discovered concealed within his baggage. The arrested individual has admitted to his continuous involvement in the illicit ganja trade. Authorities are actively pursuing leads by scrutinizing his phone records and connections to dismantle the wider smuggling network. Efforts are being bolstered at Tatanagar station to enhance security and prevent such criminal activities.
