An alarming event unfolded in Gurugram, Haryana, involving the death of a police constable at the official residence of Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh. The constable, who was on guard duty, was discovered in an unconscious state within the guard room. Prompt action was taken to inform the minister and the police. The constable was immediately transported to a hospital, but medical professionals declared him deceased.
The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Jagbir Singh, a resident of Jhajjar district. Police sources confirm that the constable, Jagbir Singh, was assigned to security at the entrance of Rao Narbir Singh’s bungalow. The preliminary investigation points toward a suicide, although a suicide note is yet to be found. The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident occurred in the Civil Lines area, at the residence of Haryana’s Minister of Industries and Commerce, Rao Narbir Singh. According to police reports, the event took place at approximately 2:30 AM.
SHO Krishna Kumar commented that the police suspect the constable’s death might be due to the ingestion of a poisonous substance. The definitive cause, however, will be determined upon the post-mortem examination. The police also stated that the family of the deceased has not yet provided an official statement or filed a written complaint, and future actions depend on the family’s cooperation.
The deceased was a former soldier and joined the Haryana Police in 2014. He was deployed to the minister’s residence to provide security after Rao Narbir Singh assumed his ministerial position, alongside other police officers assigned to the security detail.
