The final rites of the late Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, were conducted with full ceremony on Tuesday. The cremation took place in his ancestral village, Nemra, located in the Gola block of Ramgarh district. The event drew a large crowd of admirers.
Upon hearing the news of the last rites of Shibu Soren, widely known as Guruji, people began arriving at Nemra early on Tuesday. The district administration had set up barricades at Lukaiyatand, approximately seven kilometers from the village. Facilities, including a helipad and vehicles, were arranged for VIPs. The designated route, managed by the district administration, was only accessible for VIPs. However, supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Shibu Soren decided to walk the seven-kilometer distance.
The general public walked from Lukaiyatand to Nemra. The roads were overcrowded. The path prepared by the district administration for the crematorium was muddy. To transport the body, planks were laid over the paddy fields. When the public found no path, they moved onto the footpaths. Supporters of Shibu Soren arrived at the crematorium by various footpaths. When the rain started, some people sought shelter in tents. However, the supporters of Shibu Soren remained steadfast. They stood in the rain for about half an hour and eventually paid their respects before leaving.
