The state of Jharkhand is witnessing a rise in threatening incidents. After the Health Minister and a Member of Parliament, the Director of RIMS, Dr. Rajkumar, has been threatened. A man named Chandan Kumar contacted the director by phone and threatened him with physical violence, promising to remove him from Ranchi within 15 days.
Dr. Rajkumar stated that he had been acquainted with Chandan Kumar, who runs a private hospital. According to the director, Chandan Kumar had previously tried to intervene in RIMS’s operations, leading to a strained relationship. The director refused to give in to Kumar’s pressure on transfers and postings. This refusal resulted in the threat calls and messages.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged at the Bariatu police station. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
Dr. Rajkumar’s tenure has previously been marked by controversy. He was removed from the director’s post on April 18, 2025, but was later reinstated after legal intervention. The Jharkhand High Court stayed the removal order, allowing him to resume his position.
