A horrifying incident in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw an armed individual enter a home late Sunday, resulting in a fatal shooting and subsequent injury. The attacker fired multiple shots at a man inside the house. After the assailant’s initial attack, another person chased after the perpetrator and was also shot. The incident occurred in the Jhakhra Tanda area of the Ratu police station.
Ravi Saw was fatally shot in Jhakhra Tanda, sustaining three gunshot wounds. Balma, who pursued the attacker, was critically injured. The incident has caused widespread alarm within the community. Officials, including Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and the Ratu police, rushed to the site upon receiving word of the crime. A forensic team has been deployed to collect evidence.
Authorities are investigating the possibility of a land dispute as a potential motive. The deceased was from Tundwa, Chatra district, and police have taken possession of the body for a post-mortem. Balma, the injured individual, is receiving treatment at RIMS hospital. The specific motives of the attacker are still under investigation, although a land dispute is considered a likely cause.
Following the shooting, the assailant escaped. SP Praveen Pushkar said that Dadu Balma and Ravi Saw were at Pradeep Munda’s house drinking alcohol when an unknown assailant arrived and shot Ravi Saw, killing him. Balma, who gave chase, was also shot. The authorities are now examining the CCTV footage from the area. Additionally, the police are conducting thorough checks at the entry and exit points of Ranchi to locate and arrest the perpetrator.
The incident has left residents feeling scared and insecure. The recent events follow an earlier shooting on August 10th, when Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, was murdered in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi. The local population protested the earlier shooting, vandalizing and setting fire to the houses of those believed to be involved, including a former councilor.
