A brazen act of violence unfolded in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Sunday evening when an unidentified individual entered a residence and opened fire on a man, resulting in his death. The attacker discharged approximately five to six shots. A second person, who attempted to pursue the assailant, was also targeted and seriously injured. The incident took place in the Jhakhara Tand area, under the jurisdiction of the Ratu police station.
Ravi Sao was fatally shot by the attacker in Jhakhara Tand, with three bullets fired. Balma, who pursued the assailant, was severely injured by the gunfire. The event has caused considerable unrest throughout the region. Upon receiving information, Ranchi’s Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, DSP, and officers from the Ratu police station responded to the scene. A forensic team is also present, gathering evidence.
Authorities suspect a land dispute may have been the cause of the shooting. The victim was a resident of Tandwa, in the Chatra district of Jharkhand. The police have taken the body for a post-mortem examination. Balma, who was wounded in the shooting, was transported to RIMS Hospital for medical care. The exact reason behind this crime is still unknown, but a preliminary investigation suggests that a land dispute may be the motive.
The assailant escaped from the scene after committing the murder. According to SP Praveen Pushkar, Dadu Balma and Ravi Sao were drinking at Pradeep Munda’s home when an unknown attacker arrived. The assailant shot Ravi Sao three times, causing his death, and fired upon Balma as he gave chase. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Checks are being conducted at the entry and exit points of Ranchi in an effort to catch the suspect.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and concern among the local populace. Previously, on August 10, a man named Sahil Giddi, also known as Kurkure, was fatally shot during the daytime near Bhatti Chowk, in the Hindpidhi police station area of Ranchi. Following that incident, local residents protested and caused damage and arson at the residences of several suspects, including a former councilor.
