In a significant development for Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the introduction of flash charging electric buses. The buses will accommodate 135 passengers and offer fares 30% lower than diesel buses. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the Ratu Road Elevated Corridor in Ranchi on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Gadkari also highlighted the possibility of cable cars and funicular railways. He informed the public at ATC Ground about the pilot project for flash charging buses in Nagpur, for which the tender has been approved. The buses will be introduced in Jharkhand after a successful trial in Nagpur.
The buses will provide comfortable seating and onboard televisions, similar to airplanes, yet the fare will be 30% less than diesel buses. Gadkari confirmed that he would consider launching flash charging buses in Ranchi after the Nagpur trial, in response to a request from Sanjay Seth.
