In a significant operation, Ranchi Police exposed a sex racket operating from a girls’ hostel within the Lalpur police station limits. The raid, led by City DSP K.V. Raman, targeted a specific hostel based on intelligence received by the Ranchi SSP, Chandan Kumar Sinha. The information suggested that girls were being brought from West Bengal and other areas and kept at the hostel for immoral activities. During the raid at Om Girls Hostel, eight women were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the sex racket. The police are currently searching for the main person behind the operation. City DSP K.V. Raman confirmed that the police acted on a tip regarding girls from West Bengal and other places being held in a hostel. The police are investigating the rescued women, some of whom lacked proper documentation. This is not the first instance of such activity in Ranchi; in August 2024, the police arrested seven individuals, including five women, during a raid at Hotel Maurya in the Argora police station area. Previous incidents include raids at a guest house in the Lower Bazaar area, leading to the arrest of ten individuals, with six women among them. The police have also taken action against sex rackets in hotels located in Chutia police station area.
