In a significant breakthrough, police forces in Ranchi engaged in a shootout with criminals belonging to the infamous Sujeet Sinha gang near Balsiring, under the Tupudana OP. The early morning encounter on Monday resulted in the capture of two alleged criminals, with one sustaining a gunshot wound. Authorities have also seized three weapons from the confrontation site.
Sources indicate the confrontation stemmed from an investigation into a firing incident targeting the home of Monu Rai in the Doranda police station jurisdiction. The individuals apprehended, including an injured Aftab and Sonu, are accused of carrying out the Doranda firing at the behest of Sujeet Sinha.
Confirming the details, Ranchi’s Rural SP Praveen Pushkar detailed the successful operation, highlighting the apprehension of two gang members and the injury to one during the police response. Three pistols were recovered from their possession. The investigation continues to delve deeper into the network.
The intelligence-led operation began after SSP Rakesh Ranjan received credible information about the gang’s movements. A dedicated task force, comprising Rural SP Praveen Pushkar, Hatiya DSP P.K. Mishra, and officers from various police stations, initiated a crackdown. Citywide checkpoints were established, leading to a critical stop during a motorcycle patrol. A pistol was discovered on a suspicious rider.
Intensive interrogation of the rider, identified as Sonu, a prominent figure in the Sujeet Sinha syndicate, led to the revelation of his associates’ hideout. Sonu disclosed that his accomplices were gathered at the Balsiring hills. Acting on this vital tip, Rural SP Praveen Pushkar swiftly organized a tactical team. Upon encountering the police, the criminals resorted to firing. The police returned fire, leading to Aftab being shot and another accomplice being arrested. Both suspects are now being questioned, and SSP Rakesh Ranjan visited the site to oversee the investigation.
