Firoz Ali, the man accused of harassing a schoolgirl in Ranchi, Jharkhand, has died by suicide. The incident occurred after Ali was released on bail from jail, where he had been held for approximately eight months. The initial incident, which led to his arrest, involved the harassment of a minor schoolgirl near Upper Bazaar, within the Kotwali police station area. Video footage of the incident went viral, prompting the Chief Minister to order police action. Ali was subsequently arrested and paraded through the streets by the police. After being released on bail, Ali returned home. Tragically, he was found dead by suicide on Saturday evening at his residence on Nala Road in the Hindpirhi area. Family members immediately took him to RIMS Hospital, but doctors declared him dead. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The cause of his suicide is yet to be officially confirmed, but it is believed that Ali was distressed due to the charges against him. The initial incident took place on November 13, 2024. Ali, riding a scooter, allegedly harassed a schoolgirl. CCTV footage captured the act, and the video quickly circulated on social media. The Chief Minister intervened, directing the police to take necessary action. Based on the video evidence, the police identified and arrested Ali, filing serious charges against him before he was sent to jail. His death came soon after his release on bail.
