In a significant disciplinary action, the Jharkhand Home and Jail Department has terminated the employment of Rahul Kashyap, a Senior Jailer at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail. The dismissal follows an internal inquiry confirming that Kashyap was a convicted individual at the time of his hiring and failed to disclose this crucial information. The department has also stipulated that no further financial compensation will be provided to the dismissed official.
Kashyap was employed as a Senior Jailer in Ranchi’s Hotwar jail under the pretense of having a clean record. However, revelations about his conviction prompted a formal investigation. The Jail Department constituted a special three-member committee to probe the matter. The committee’s comprehensive report presented irrefutable evidence of Kashyap’s deception, leading directly to the recommendation for his dismissal.
The investigative findings laid bare the details of Kashyap’s criminal history, including a case filed on September 26, 2010, involving serious charges. A court later sentenced him to a decade in prison. Kashyap completed a portion of his sentence as an inmate at Khunti Sub-Jail between April 22 and April 28, 2014. His transfer to the Hotwar Jail in Ranchi occurred on April 29, 2014, during his period of incarceration.
