The government has sanctioned Rs 45.3 crore for the development of the Ranchi airport area, with plans to model the infrastructure after major metropolitan cities. The project, spearheaded by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, focuses on revamping the Airport Road, Hinu Chowk, and Birsa Chowk. Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar has approved the allocation for five key projects. The Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Sunil Kumar, has instructed JUIDCO to expedite the tendering process. The aim is to modernize and beautify the airport area under urban planning, providing a positive experience for visitors. Key features of the project include: strengthening the road from the airport to Hinu Chowk, which will cost Rs 10.42 crore, landscaping and illuminated decoration with an allocation of Rs 14.64 crore, renovating the Hinu to Birsa Chowk road with a budget of Rs 7.50 crore, additional landscaping and beautification costing Rs 9.03 crore, and the development of Hinu Chowk and its roundabout at a cost of Rs 3.42 crore. The Airport to Hinu Chowk route will be expanded to six lanes, incorporating modern elements such as footpaths, cycling paths, smart streetlights, and LED lighting. The design will also feature artwork inspired by tribal culture, stone artwork, grand archways reflecting Jharkhand’s heritage, and landscaped areas. Hinu Chowk to Birsa Chowk will see similar upgrades with surface renovations and the construction of six-lane roads. The project includes the installation of shade trees, LED lights, and landscaping, along with the provision of public amenities like toilets. Hinu Chowk itself will be modernized with improvements to the Karpuri Thakur statue and the installation of statues of Jharkhand’s freedom fighters. The roundabout will be expanded and enhanced with modern lighting and greenery.
