In a significant operation, law enforcement seized a large quantity of illicit liquor in the Nirsa sub-division of Dhanbad. The crackdown, focusing on the Chirakunda and Kalubathan regions, saw the combined efforts of local police units. The raids, conducted late Wednesday night, targeted illegal alcohol businesses and resulted in the confiscation of substantial amounts of Indian-made and foreign liquor. Two individuals involved in the smuggling of alcohol were arrested. The police are actively pursuing further leads and conducting raids to apprehend other suspects. The Nirsa SDPO, Rajat Manik Bakhla, provided details of the operation during a press briefing at the Maithan office on Thursday. The SDPO emphasized that the raids were carried out under the guidance of senior officers, aiming to curb the illegal production and sale of alcohol. A raid at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in Kathardih village, under Kalubathan OP, led to the recovery of a large stock of alcohol. Mangal Tudu, a vendor, was arrested and provided information about others involved. Simultaneously, a raid on a hotel near the Juncunder Phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area resulted in the seizure of both foreign and country liquor. The hotel owner attempted to escape but was apprehended. The arrested individuals have been charged under relevant laws and remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO confirmed that these operations will continue and that those involved in illegal alcohol activities will face consequences.
