A substantial quantity of illicit liquor was seized in a police operation targeting illegal alcohol businesses in the Chirukunda and Kalubathan regions, under the Nirsa sub-division. The joint operation, carried out by Chirukunda and Kalubathan police, took place late Wednesday night. Authorities confiscated a large amount of both Indian-made and foreign liquor. Two individuals involved in the smuggling of alcohol were arrested during the raid. Furthermore, the police have intensified their search for other individuals who are believed to be involved but managed to escape. Details of the operation were disclosed by Nirsa SDPO Rajat Manik Bakhla during a press conference held at the Maithon office on Thursday. The SDPO explained that the raids were conducted on the orders of senior police officers, as part of an ongoing effort to curb the illegal production and sale of alcohol. In the Kalubathan OP area, a raid was conducted at the residence of Raghunath Tudu in Kaithardih village, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of alcohol. Mangal Tudu, a liquor vendor, was arrested at the scene and provided information about other individuals during questioning. Police are now working to locate these suspects. Simultaneously, a raid at a hotel near the Junkundar Phatak vegetable market in the Chirukunda police station area resulted in the seizure of a consignment of both foreign and Indian-made liquor. The hotel owner attempted to escape, but was apprehended by the police. The two arrested individuals have been charged with relevant offenses and have been placed in judicial custody. The SDPO affirmed that the operation will continue, and strict action will be taken against all those involved in the illegal alcohol trade.
