Mansoor Alam, a 42-year-old police driver stationed at the police line, died by suicide after ingesting sulfas. Alam was reportedly under considerable stress, stemming from a period of suspension from his duties. Prior to his death, Alam recorded a video in which he directly implicated two police station in-charges, accusing them of orchestrating his suspension through the use of false accusations.
Alerted by a phone call, Alam’s colleagues discovered him in a precarious state within the police line barracks. He was swiftly transported to Sadar Hospital Koderma, where initial medical intervention was provided. The severity of his condition necessitated a referral to RIMS, Ranchi. Despite medical efforts, Alam succumbed to his injuries.
His wife revealed that Alam had been experiencing intense stress for several months. The deceased had been suspended for three months and had been suspended twice in the preceding four months. In a video statement released before his suicide, Alam alleged that Jaynagar police station in-charge Bablu Singh and Domchanch police station in-charge Om Prakash Yadav were responsible for his suspension, which he claimed was based on false accusations. Alam’s video statement unequivocally held the officers accountable for his impending death.
