The mystery surrounding the murder of para-teacher Mukru Degam in West Singhbhum has been solved, with local law enforcement arresting three individuals. The victim, 50-year-old Mukru Degam, was a resident of Purnachasaiba and was reportedly attending a weekly market in Purnapani Bazaar Tola, under the jurisdiction of Tonto police station, on November 29th.
Investigations revealed that the motive behind the brutal attack stemmed from an argument over the consumption of ‘handiya’, a local alcoholic beverage. The suspects, identified as Soma Sundi (25), Seenu Gaur (20), and Mangal Karowa (20), allegedly resorted to extreme violence, using stones and sticks to bludgeon the teacher to death.
After committing the crime, the assailants made their escape. However, a dedicated police team, spearheaded by Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Raifal Murmu and following instructions from the Superintendent of Police, was swiftly formed. Utilizing technical intelligence, the police managed to track down and arrest the trio from the village of Kenjra on November 30th, demonstrating remarkable efficiency.
All three accused have reportedly confessed to their direct role in Degam’s murder. Their admissions have led to the recovery of key evidence, including the weapon used, a bloodied stone, a wooden club, and the garments they wore at the time of the crime. The quick resolution of this case highlights the effectiveness of the West Singhbhum police force in tackling violent crimes.
