A serious incident was narrowly avoided on the Garib Rath express train traveling from Delhi to Ranchi. Smoke was observed emanating from coach G-5 of the train, leading to widespread panic among the passengers. Fearing for their safety, many passengers jumped from the moving train, resulting in injuries for some. Fortunately, there were no reports of severe damage or casualties. The train, numbered 12878, departed Delhi at its scheduled time of 4:10 PM. The incident took place around 5:30 PM between Ghaziabad and Khurda. The TT alerted the guard and the loco pilot about the situation. The train’s speed was reduced, but the passengers, gripped by fear, began to evacuate before the train came to a complete stop. Railway personnel later examined the coach after the train stopped. Passengers were not provided with specific details about the problem. After approximately 35 minutes, passengers were instructed to return to the same coach, and were told that the issue had been resolved. Senior DCM Shuchi Singh claimed ignorance about the matter.
