In a significant Gram Sabha held in Chhota Bakau village, Pandalvir Panchayat of West Singhbhum, villagers united to address critical local problems and express dissatisfaction with administrative inaction. The meeting, co-chaired by village leaders Budhay Singh Savaiya and Jitra Savaiya, and attended by Panchayat Mukhiya Motaye Boypai, focused on infrastructure deficits and essential service disruptions. The poor state of the road leading to the village was a major talking point, with residents detailing the daily struggles faced. Significant anger was directed towards the unfinished bridge over a seasonal stream, a project that has languished for years after preliminary assessments, effectively isolating the village. Mobile network connectivity issues also surfaced, with villagers explaining that the erected tower fails to provide usable service, hindering emergency communications. The non-appointment of a Sahia for the last two months has deprived pregnant women of crucial health support. Compounding these issues is the unused health sub-center building, which has yet to open its doors. Community advocate Ramesh Balmchu and legal expert Mahendra Jamuda heard these concerns firsthand. Jamuda assured the attendees that he would personally present these demands to the Deputy Commissioner, advocating for the immediate operationalization of the health center, the resumption and completion of road and bridge construction, and the restoration of proper mobile network coverage.
