A strong accusation has been leveled against the Jharkhand government by BJP state president and Leader of Opposition, Babu Lal Marandi. He claims the government is fabricating new criminal activities to obscure the reality of ongoing crime and to protect its interests. Marandi highlighted how the recent ED raids in Dhanbad’s coal underworld have brought to light significant, unsettling evidence. The situation is exacerbated, he stated, by intelligence indicating that some ‘top police officers,’ reportedly benefiting from the coal trade’s black money, have instructed coal mafia operatives to ‘permanently eliminate’ their associates. This directive is allegedly intended to prevent these operatives from cooperating with the ED and revealing the truth. Marandi warned that plots are reportedly being hatched to murder individuals under ED interrogation, effectively silencing them before they can testify. He drew parallels to past instances in the state where ‘encountering evidence’ was used to prevent investigations. Recalling a past DGP accused of contract killings and widespread corruption, Marandi emphasized that such corrupt practices are not new. He urged the ED to be exceptionally vigilant, noting that in Jharkhand, truth-tellers are suppressed while those who conceal it thrive. The alignment of political power, the administrative system, and criminal syndicates, he concluded, leads to the easy annihilation of justice.
