At Dorranda College in the campus of Ranchi, the opening of the Self-Defense Training Center was jointly conducted today (Sunday) by the Project Director, Co-Director of the Jharkhand Women Development Committee for Social Welfare, Mrs. Kiran Pasi (former Deputy Principal), and Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma, Principal of Dorranda College. On this occasion, Mrs. Kiran Pasi addressed the female students and stated that learning self‑defense is extremely essential for daughters. Every girl should receive this training. The Jharkhand government is continually working towards establishing self‑defense training centers for adolescent girls in all state government colleges, so that girls can become self‑reliant, avoid child marriage, complete their education, and be able to defend themselves if necessary. She informed that through this center, the college students will receive free karate training under the guidance of Shihan Ranjit Mehata (6th DAN Black Belt). Meanwhile, Principal Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma said that this initiative, under the college’s Social Outreach Programme, will prove to be an effective step toward societal upliftment. Not only our students but also all those in society who wish to help girls become self‑reliant and trained, the college is always ready to make every possible effort. This special initiative to make girls self‑reliant and provide them with self‑defense training under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padाओ scheme in Jharkhand state is a pilot project started by the joint efforts of the Jharkhand Women Development Committee and Dorranda College. A specially equipped Karate Dojo room was also inaugurated for karate training.
