A case reminiscent of the Raja Raghuvanshi murder has emerged in the Garhwa district of Jharkhand, where a woman is accused of poisoning her husband to death merely a month after their wedding. The incident has caused a stir in the village. The police arrived at the scene, took custody of the man’s body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The accused wife was arrested and is currently being interrogated. The entire incident has shocked everyone.
Budhnath Singh, residing in Bahokundar village under the Ranka police station area of Garhwa district, married Sunita Devi from a village in Chhattisgarh on May 11, 2025. Sunita harbored a strong dislike for Budhnath and even expressed her hatred, leading her to return to her parents’ home a week after the wedding. Despite efforts from her husband and in-laws to bring her back, Sunita refused, leading to a village panchayat to resolve the dispute.
On June 15, Budhnath went to his in-laws’ house. After considerable persuasion, he brought his wife, Sunita, back to his village. However, he was unaware that he was returning home to his demise. Upon returning, Sunita began executing her plan and sent her husband to purchase pesticides (poison) used for plants.
Without questioning, the husband bought the pesticide. Seizing the opportunity, his wife mixed the poison into his dinner, resulting in his death. The following morning, the mother discovered her son dead, triggering an uproar within the family and the village. The villagers apprehended the accused daughter-in-law and informed the Ranka police station.
Upon arrival, the police took the body for a post-mortem and arrested Sunita Devi. The police have registered a case based on the victim’s family’s complaint and have begun investigating the matter.
