A significant development is underway at IHM Ranchi with the foundation stone laid for a new auditorium cum executive development center and an expanded girls’ hostel. The ceremony was attended by key state ministers, including Shilpi Neha Tirkey and Sudivyav Kumar Sonu. Minister Tirkey, in her address, advocated for transforming Mandar College into a dedicated center for Small Nagpur Studies and Research. She lauded the academic prowess of the youth from the Mandar region, pointing to their consistent success in competitive examinations and academic top rankings. This, she argued, warrants serious attention from the Higher and Technical Education Department. The Minister further emphasized the rich cultural heritage of Southern Chotanagpur, encompassing its traditions, culture, and cuisine, and highlighted how IHM is equipping local youth with relevant skills. She articulated that societal, cultural, and educational advancement is vital for the state’s progress towards becoming ‘Sonanjharhand’.
Minister Sonu, responsible for Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs, spoke about Jharkhand’s unique identity, with its distinct cultural fabric, language, and dialects. He noted the current generation’s appreciation for the state’s heritage, forged through years of effort. Minister Sonu pointed out the significant shift in career perceptions within the hospitality sector, crediting institutions like IHM for enabling this change. He stressed the necessity of creating employment avenues within Jharkhand for its residents. Reiterating the government’s dedication to bolstering tourism, Minister Sonu pledged that the Tourism Department would offer full support to IHM’s expansion, ensuring no impediments to its progress. The event was attended by the Principal of IHM, faculty members, and local community leaders.
