Residents of Lagora village in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, are facing significant challenges due to the absence of a bridge over the Lagora River, especially during the monsoon season. A gram sabha meeting, led by social worker Lakshuram Mundri, addressed the issues faced by the villagers. The villagers expressed their anger over the failure of elected officials to fulfill their promises of constructing a bridge, a pledge made during the last elections. The lack of a bridge has isolated the villages of Chatma, Lagora, and Maddih, affecting the lives of approximately 900 people. During the monsoon, the village is virtually cut off, making it difficult for pregnant women to access medical care and for children to attend school. The villagers have issued a warning, stating that they will boycott the district administration and deny entry to outsiders if the bridge is not built by December 2025. Lakshuram Mundri emphasized the severe impact of the monsoon on the villagers, highlighting the difficulty in reaching hospitals and schools due to the lack of a bridge and the poor condition of the roads. He stated that repeated appeals to leaders and representatives have been ignored. The villagers have declared that they will boycott government schemes and prevent access to the village by any officials during the upcoming elections if their demands are not met. Key figures present at the meeting included Sikandar Mundri, Mohan Mundri, Gones Mundri, Gopal Mundri, and Naman Mundri, along with many other villagers.
