In a stunning turn of events in East Singhbhum’s Aazadnagar area, police have exposed a staged theft, identifying the victim who reported the crime as the actual accused. A complaint was filed regarding the disappearance of gold jewelry from a house on Bagan Shahi Road No. 7. Police successfully resolved the case within a day.
The individual who claimed to be the victim, Wakar Ahmed, was found to be responsible for the alleged theft. He has been apprehended by the authorities and handed over to the judicial system. Approximately ₹1.50 lakh worth of gold ornaments were recovered from his custody.
A dedicated police team, established upon the complaint and supervised by the City SP and Patamda DSP Bachan Dev Kujur, took up the investigation. Initial questioning of Wakar Ahmed revealed discrepancies in his account. When pressed further, he admitted to staging the incident. Ahmed explained that he orchestrated the ‘theft’ of the gold jewelry from his home on the night of the 22nd, while his family slept, due to immense pressure from his family’s poor financial situation. He hoped to gain some financial relief by reporting the fabricated crime. The recovered items include a gold chain, four pairs of earrings, and a ring.
