Krishna Rana, a 21-year-old resident of Giridih district, lost his life in a drowning incident at Dimna Lake on Wednesday. The unfortunate event occurred while he was enjoying a day out with nine of his friends. During a swim in the lake, Rana went under the water and couldn’t be rescued in time.
The group of nine young men, all employed as carpenters, had gone to Dimna Lake. Six of them entered the water to swim. Krishna Rana, who was the last to enter the water, unexpectedly began to drown in the deeper part of the lake. Despite their efforts, his friends were unable to save him and had to retreat from the water.
Though the police were notified promptly, they were delayed in arriving. The focus seemed to be on preliminary questioning rather than rescue efforts. Eventually, the fishermen present were able to retrieve the young man’s body.
Local residents have expressed concern, stating that this is not an isolated incident. Several similar accidents have occurred at Dimna Lake, yet the area lacks lifeguards and warning signs. They emphasize that lives could be saved if proper safety measures and protocols were established.
