Police have apprehended Premchand Sahu, the individual accused of murdering Saraswati Kumari, a minor girl residing in a live-in relationship, in Kumang village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Tapkara police station. The arrest occurred on Saturday night, following the murder that took place earlier that day. Torpa Circle Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh and Tapkara Police Station In-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta provided details during a press conference at the Torpa police station on Sunday. Premchand Sahu hails from Malgo village, located within the Lapung police station area of Ranchi. Authorities were alerted by intelligence indicating that the suspect was attempting to flee via motorcycle.
A swift operation led to his capture within the Torpa police station area. During questioning, Sahu admitted to the murder of Saraswati Kumari. Subsequently, the murder weapon (a knife), motorcycle, ‘doli’, and mobile phone were recovered based on his disclosures. The raiding party comprised Torpa Circle Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Torpa Police Station In-charge Mukesh Kumar Hembram, Tapkara Police Station In-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta, SI Shyamal Kumbhkar, along with armed officers from both Torpa and Tapkara police stations. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody. The Tapkara police station in-charge refuted claims that the suspect, Premchand Sahu, had escaped while handcuffed and was later apprehended after three hours. The police official stated that these claims circulating on social media are unfounded.
