Dharamgarh Echoed with Chants of Lugubaba, Over Ten Thousand Devotees Arrived at Lugoo Hill for Darshan
The State Festival 2025 commenced on Monday morning at the sacred site of Luguburu Ghantabari Dharamgarh in Lalpania, Gomia block of the district, nestled in the lap of nature, with traditional rituals and a devotional atmosphere.
The entire area resonated with the chants of “Jai Lugubaba” and the beats of Mandar drums.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajay Nath Jha, Superintendent of Police (SP) Harwinder Singh, Nayke Baba, and organizing committee president Mr. Babli Soren along with other members initiated the three-day festival with prayers.
Flood of Faith – Over Ten Thousand Devotees Reached Lugubaba’s Abode
An unprecedented crowd of devotees thronged on the very first day. More than ten thousand devotees climbed Lugoo Hill to offer prayers to Lugubaba. With the sunrise, devotees were seen moving forward on the path of faith, singing songs in traditional attire.
Devotees said that Lugubaba is the soul of our ancestors, the protector of our land and our religion. Coming here brings peace to the mind and strength to the soul.
A Living Celebration of Folk Culture and Tradition
The Luguburu Festival is not just a festival of worship, but a vibrant celebration of Jharkhand’s tribal identity, folk culture, and collective unity. Here, people from Santali and other tribal communities are presenting a glimpse of their culture through dance and songs in their traditional costumes.
Organized Arrangements for Devotees
The district administration and the organizing committee have made extensive arrangements for the devotees: –
– Accommodation and rest facilities in Tent City
– Free bus service from Bokaro Steel City and Gomia Railway Station
– Khichdi service, clean drinking water, lighting arrangements, and decoration
– Information and help center, health camp, and sanitation team continuously active
Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ajay Nath Jha offered prayers and wished for the success of the festival and for the cultural unity, peace, and prosperity of the district. He said that the Luguburu Festival is the fragrance of our soil, the soul of our culture, and the identity of our tradition. This festival establishes Jharkhand’s folk faith on the world stage.
Security and Service – Administration Alert
SP Harwinder Singh stated that extensive arrangements have been made for the security of the devotees. Police forces have been deployed throughout the premises, with drone and CCTV surveillance, and control rooms established. He said that the security and convenience of the devotees are the top priority of the administration. Our endeavor is to ensure every visitor has a safe, comfortable, and devotional experience.

Luguburu Ghantabari Dharamgarh is considered the most sacred pilgrimage site for the Santali community. Every year, thousands of devotees gather here to celebrate the sacred relationship between the earth, water, forest, and people. This festival expresses the soul of Jharkhand, in which nature is God, and Lugubaba is its embodiment.
