Koderma marked World Mental Health Day with a comprehensive legal awareness camp held at the Jeevodaya Institute. The event, conducted under the guidance of Bal Krishna Tiwari, District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, was a joint initiative by the District Legal Services Authority, Hand in Hand India, Children of India Foundation, Lions Club Koderma, and Marwari Yuva Manch.
Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Koderma, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of treating individuals with mental health issues with kindness and understanding. He stressed that they deserve to feel accepted and comfortable within the community. Kumar asserted that the District Legal Services Authority is dedicated to supporting all vulnerable individuals, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent access to justice.
Rahul Jain of Marwari Yuva Manch called for greater efforts to integrate individuals with mental disabilities into the fabric of society, emphasizing that this reflects the true spirit of World Mental Health Day. He acknowledged the vital contribution of the District Legal Services Authority. Sujeet Kumar Ambastha from Lions Club Koderma suggested exploring the underlying reasons for mental illness and recommended reduced screen time for the public. Archana Jwala, Nodal Officer of Sakhi One Stop Center, commended Jeevodaya’s exemplary service in caring for those with mental health conditions. Rupesh Kumar of Hand in Hand India underscored the importance of continuous affection and support for the residents of Jeevodaya, noting the positive impact it has on their happiness.
Medical officer Dr. Ashish Raj appreciated the initiative by the authorities. Sister Salomi from Holy Family Nursing School elaborated on Jeevodaya’s mission and thanked the participating bodies for their assistance. Sister Ronita from Jeevodaya extended her thanks to all attendees. The program began with a welcoming performance by students from Holy Family Nursing School, and distinguished guests were presented with bouquets by Jeevodaya residents. The proceedings were skillfully anchored by Ranjit Kumar Singh, a court official. The camp was attended by many prominent individuals, including senior advocate Jay Prakash Narayan, and representatives from various supporting organizations.
