In Jhumri Tilaiya, a renewed focus on sanitation is transforming the town’s cleanliness landscape, thanks to the leadership of SDO Riya Singh. The Municipal Council’s door-to-door garbage collection program has gained significant momentum, now covering all 28 wards. SDO Singh’s direct involvement has energized the effort, beginning with house-to-house waste collection in Chitragupta Nagar. The overarching goal is to integrate approximately 27,000 homes into this essential service by the end of the year.
This intensified campaign has sparked a noticeable surge in public engagement with cleanliness. Municipal Administrator Ankit Gupta detailed the extensive awareness drives conducted under SDO Riya Singh’s supervision in areas like Water Tank Road, Block Road, and Chitragupta Nagar. A unique feature introduced is a distinct ‘Kachra Nikaliye’ audio alert on all waste collection vehicles, designed to signal their arrival in residential areas and prompt residents to dispose of their waste. Gupta also shared that the deployment of GPS technology on every waste vehicle allows for constant oversight via large monitors at the Municipal Council, tracking vehicle movement and collection progress.
The municipality claims to be collecting between 28 and 32 tons of refuse daily. This concerted effort is vital for realizing the aspiration of a ‘Green Tilaiya, Clean Tilaiya’. Key officials, including City Manager Lemanshu Kumar, Randhir Verma, and Sanitation Inspector Raju Ram, were present, underscoring the collective nature of maintaining a clean town and appealing for full public cooperation.
