In a decisive display of electoral strength, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Somesh Chandra Soren has surged ahead in the Ghatshila Assembly by-election. With 13 rounds of counting now complete, Soren has built a formidable lead of 27,977 votes against his rival, Babulal Soren of the BJP. The latest vote count places Somesh Chandra Soren firmly in the lead with 71,343 votes, while Babulal Soren has received 43,366 votes. This substantial lead has ignited jubilation among JMM supporters, while casting a shadow of disappointment over the BJP. Candidates from other parties, such as Ramdas Marandi of the JLKM who secured 9,472 votes, and various independent contenders, are significantly behind. A total of 1,938 votes were cast for NOTA. The momentum gained by the JMM in these initial rounds indicates a strong path towards victory, boosting the morale of the party’s dedicated workers.
