Jharkhand is gearing up to construct RIMS-2, envisioned as Asia’s largest super-specialty hospital, with a significant financial boost from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) amounting to ₹1000 crore. The details were revealed in a press release from Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, focusing on the project’s financial framework. The remaining funds required will be sourced from the state’s planning budget. The hospital’s design and construction phases are nearing completion, with the groundbreaking ceremony scheduled shortly. This project aims to establish Jharkhand as a leading healthcare center and medical tourism destination, not only in eastern India but nationwide. The health minister and the additional chief secretary of the health department visited the Amrita Hospital in Faridabad, Delhi, to examine the hospital’s medical practices, management strategies, and research initiatives. Based on this analysis, RIMS-2 will adopt the Amrita model. The hospital will feature 2600 beds, catering to a range of specialties like cardiology, oncology, neurosurgery, and orthopedics. It will also incorporate a medical college, nursing and paramedical institutions, along with necessary amenities such as doctors’ quarters, hostels, a stadium, a research center, and telemedicine units, offering complete treatment and educational resources within a single complex.
