A significant complaint has been filed against Anurag Gupta, the former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand, at the Doranda police station, accusing him of serious offenses related to organized crime and corruption. The complaint was lodged by advocate Rajiv Kumar of the Jharkhand High Court, who has put forth sensational claims that Gupta was deeply involved in criminal networks and corrupt dealings during his service. These allegations include the illegal collection of vast sums of money and the management of criminal organizations.
According to advocate Kumar’s detailed complaint, Anurag Gupta allegedly formed a criminal enterprise called ‘Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti’ while he was the state’s police chief. This group reportedly operated in conjunction with prominent criminal figures like Sujit Sinha. The complaint suggests that Gupta exercised indirect control over this extensive criminal network, leading to the systematic extortion of millions from various business sectors across Jharkhand, including the coal industry, contracting, transportation, and medical fields.
The accusations gain further weight from statements made by Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly. During a press conference, Marandi reportedly revealed that the ‘Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti’ was armed with weapons originating from Pakistan. Additionally, the complaint cites an instance where Anurag Gupta allegedly orchestrated a staged encounter of a criminal, Aman Sahu, who was incarcerated at the time, acting under the direction of another criminal. The complainant views these revelations as a severe threat to national security.
Beyond the organized crime aspect, Anurag Gupta is also accused of gross financial misconduct. While holding significant positions like DG of ACB and CID, Gupta allegedly used his influence to file false cases against opponents. This was allegedly carried out with the help of his favored subordinates, including Mohammad Parvez Alam, Mohammad Nehal, and Animesh Nathani, all DSPs and police officers. The complaint also implicates Gupta in extorting funds from government officials and engineers through fraudulent complaints and notices. A list of other alleged accomplices within the ACB and CID, including Amar Kumar Pandey, Ganesh Prasad (Inspector), Anuj Mahto, Chandan Kumar, Prabhat Dubey, Birendra Kumar Mahto, Deepak Mehta, Mahadev Mahto, and Ranjit Rana (constable), has also been provided.
Advocate Rajiv Kumar submitted his complaint online, requesting an immediate and comprehensive investigation into Gupta’s alleged criminal activities and corrupt practices. He implores the authorities to file a formal FIR against Gupta and his alleged collaborators, emphasizing the urgent need for such action to protect the interests of Jharkhand and the nation.
