The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rainfall across Jharkhand until July 6th, with the possibility of heavy downpours in certain regions. Ranchi and many other parts of Jharkhand have experienced intermittent rain since Wednesday morning. According to Abhishek Anand, head of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, the cyclonic circulation over southern Jharkhand and the monsoon’s influence are contributing to the expected rainfall. Since the monsoon’s onset on June 17th, Jharkhand has received significantly more rainfall than usual. From June 1st to July 2nd, the state recorded 382.3 mm of rainfall, which is 85% higher than the normal 206.5 mm. Ranchi district witnessed the highest rainfall surplus, with 203% more rain than average.
