Preparations for the much-anticipated urban local body elections in Jharkhand are gaining momentum, with the NCP spearheading discussions on key electoral issues. A significant meeting convened by the party in Mango, East Singhbhum, saw leaders strategizing for the polls. Saurav Ojha chaired the session, skillfully managed by Mohammed Rizwan, and graced by the presence of Dr. Pawan Pandey, NCP’s National General Secretary for Urban Bodies.
Dr. Pandey addressed the party cadre, stating that with the Ghatshila by-election concluded, urban local body polls are expected any time. He exhorted workers to channel their political energies towards comprehensive election preparedness. Central to the NCP’s agenda is ensuring fair representation for SC and OBC communities through proper reservation in the upcoming elections. The party highlighted a critical bottleneck: the delayed issuance of caste certificates to many within these communities. Without these certificates, eligible candidates cannot contest for reserved seats, effectively disenfranchising them.
The NCP leader underscored that reservation policies are designed to ensure inclusivity and equal access to resources and opportunities. He warned that the intended impact of reservation is lost if SC and OBC individuals cannot avail themselves of it due to procedural hurdles like certificate issuance. Consequently, Dr. Pandey urged the party to organize a robust campaign to pressure authorities for the swift distribution of caste certificates, emphasizing the detrimental effects of this delay on the socio-economic progress of these communities.
Attendees at the meeting included key figures such as Jitendra Mishra, Tejpal Singh Tony, Lalit Dhingra, Anwar Hussain, Abdul Jabbar, and Firoz Ahmed, among other dedicated party members.
