An educator at a private school in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district is facing allegations of severely beating a young student after the child voiced concerns about the quality of food served in the school hostel. The incident, which occurred at a school within the jurisdiction of the Bhandra police station, resulted in the child, a UKG student named Prince Oraon, sustaining a broken finger and injuries to his leg.
The teacher, identified as Kranti Kiran Kido, is accused of the assault. Prince’s father, Sukra Oraon, filed a police complaint detailing the incident. According to the FIR, the assault took place on August 20th when the teacher reportedly used a stick to beat Prince for complaining about the hostel food.
After the assault, Prince, terrified, ran away from the hostel to his village and told his family what happened. The family took him to the Sadar Hospital in Lohardaga where X-rays revealed the extent of his injuries. When the parents attempted to discuss the matter with the school authorities, they were met with disrespectful behavior. The school principal has since refuted the allegations, claiming them to be unfounded.
Following the incident, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, intervened, instructing the Lohardaga district’s Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter immediately. He also directed that the child receive necessary medical care and counseling. The police are now investigating the case based on the filed FIR.
