Frustration has boiled over among students in Jharkhand as they protest the egregious delay in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission’s (JPSC) Food Safety Officer (FSO) and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) exam results. For close to two years, candidates have been left in suspense, prompting the Jharkhand State Student Association (JSSA) to spearhead a significant demonstration at the JPSC headquarters in Ranchi. The peaceful protest, led by JSSA President Satyanarayan Shukla, drew a large crowd of agitated students seeking answers and timely action.
The core grievance stems from the fact that the FSO and CDPO examinations were completed over two years ago, yet the results have yet to be declared. The JSSA leadership has characterized this extended postponement as a blatant disregard for the candidates’ futures, a failure of policy by the commission, and a clear sign of administrative negligence. The association has made repeated attempts to engage with the JPSC, including two meetings with the secretary and numerous submitted memorandums over the last two years, but claims to have received only hollow promises.
At the heart of the protest, President Satyanarayan Shukla articulated the students’ plight. “By holding back the FSO and CDPO exam results for two years, the JPSC is gambling with the futures of lakhs of candidates. Students are exhausted, their families are suffering, and the commission offers only excuses,” he declared. He unequivocally stated, “Our demand is simple – release the results without delay. This protest will continue relentlessly until our demands are met.” Shukla stressed the importance of the movement as a quest for transparency and fairness in recruitment processes.
The demonstration was marked by a remarkable turnout, with students converging from all 24 districts of Jharkhand. A singular, powerful message resonated from the unified student body: “FSO-CDPO results must be declared – give us an answer!” The student body outlined five primary demands for the JPSC: the immediate release of FSO and CDPO examination results; official disclosure of the reasons behind the significant delay; the identification and accountability of officials responsible for the hold-up; ensuring complete transparency in the results and evaluation process; and mandating strict timelines for all future recruitment examinations.
The JSSA has committed to an ongoing struggle until the results are published and has announced plans for a phased expansion of their protest activities. The association has issued a stern ultimatum to the JPSC, emphasizing their unwavering stance: “Either declare the results, or hold the responsible parties accountable for this unacceptable delay.”
