Dumka witnessed the grand 9th convocation ceremony of Sidhu Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU) on Monday, held at the city’s convention center. The esteemed presence of Jharkhand’s Governor and University Chancellor, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, marked the occasion as he bestowed prestigious gold medals and academic degrees upon deserving graduates. The university celebrated the achievements of 78 students with gold medals and awarded doctoral degrees to 37 PhD candidates. In a significant move, 33,697 students were awarded their degrees in absentia, acknowledging their successful completion of examinations.
Highlighting academic excellence, Tripti Shobha Marandi was awarded the ‘Best Graduate’ title. Marandi, who excelled in the Mathematics department at St. Xavier’s College, Maharo, as part of the UG session 2021-24, achieved top honors. The convocation was further enlivened by glimpses of Indian culture, with many participants opting for traditional Indian attire.
