In a move to enhance urban infrastructure and improve traffic management, Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved three significant road projects. These projects are designed to modernize traffic systems in Ranchi and other key cities within the state. The Road Construction Department’s Principal Secretary, Sunil Kumar, presented the details of these projects to the Chief Minister, who then instructed officials to swiftly prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for their immediate implementation. Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed that similar traffic improvement strategies be developed for other major cities in Jharkhand.
The key projects approved are:
* **Argora Chowk-Kathal Mor-Chapu Toli Elevated Flyover:** This flyover will be 1.75 kilometers in length, with a 10-meter width for the elevated section and a 7-meter width for the road below. It will include drainage, utility ducts, road beautification, full lighting, and noise barriers. This project will significantly ease traffic flow between Argora and Chapu Toli.
* **Karamtoli-Morabadi-Science City Flyover and Ring Road Four-Lane Road:** A 2.2-kilometer flyover from Karamtoli Chowk to Science City, coupled with a four-lane road extending over 5 kilometers from Science City to the Ring Road. This infrastructure will reduce congestion on the capital’s busy roads and improve travel times.
* **Ranchi Railway Station to Airport Alternative Four-Lane Road:** A 4.7-kilometer road including an 800-meter elevated section. It will feature footpaths, cycle tracks, solar-powered road lighting, green spaces, gazebos, and seating. This will provide a fast alternative route to the airport, making it easier for residents of Hatia, Doranda, Hinoo, and the HEC area to reach Ranchi Railway Station quickly.
Additional proposals that the Chief Minister considered include a flyover from Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu and a flyover over the Swarnarekha River, linking Hinoo Bridge to Jagannathpur. He also requested that traffic improvement plans be created for Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and other cities.
* **Jamshedpur-Sakchi City Flyover:** A 2.54 km flyover aimed at resolving traffic congestion.
* **Daltonganj-Garhwa Alternative Corridor:** A circular elevated corridor to improve traffic management.
Enhancements at NHAI Transition Points: Improvements focused on safety and junction upgrades at locations such as Ramgarh, Daltonganj, and Barkakana.
These projects are expected to alleviate traffic issues, promote employment, attract investment, and boost industrial growth. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely execution and ongoing monitoring of the projects, viewing them as pivotal in transforming Jharkhand into a modern, developed state.
